About & how it works

Based in Boca Raton. Buying nationwide.

J&J Electrical Surplus buys surplus electrical and industrial equipment to reuse or recycle. Here's who we are, how selling to us works, and straight answers to what sellers ask most.

Our story

Good equipment deserves a second job.

J&J Electrical Surplus and Recycling is a family business. Jeff's family started buying surplus electrical in the 1990s, and Jeff took it over from them. Thirty years on, the idea hasn't changed: leftover wire, breakers pulled from upgrades and equipment nobody needs anymore still have real value.

Today we're based in Boca Raton and buy surplus electrical, industrial equipment, tooling and metals from contractors, manufacturers, plants and data centers across the country. We pick up anywhere in the United States, cover the shipping, and pay for what your material is really worth.

We keep it simple: a fair price, a pickup that fits your schedule, and payment the way you want it.

Jeff John, Owner

Reuse or recycle

Reuse when it can. Recycle when it can't.

Equipment that still works gets a second life. What can't be reused gets melted down and made into new product.

Truckload of used copper cable

Recycled

Melted down into new product.

Reused

Back in service, working for someone else.

Better value for you

We price working equipment for what it can still do, not just what it weighs, so you're paid what it's really worth, often more than a local scrap yard.

Parts that keep things running

Obsolete and discontinued equipment can be exactly what another facility needs to keep a line or a building running.

Nothing wasted

What can't go back into service gets melted down and made into new product instead of ending up in a landfill.

FAQ

Questions sellers ask

Electrical surplus, industrial equipment, tooling and metals. That includes full and partial wire reels, circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, bus plugs, electric motors, PLC and automation equipment, machinery, and carbide and tungsten tooling. New, used, obsolete or damaged. The full list is on our What We Buy page, and if it isn't there, send a photo anyway.

Yes. Full and partial reels of copper and aluminum wire and cable are some of the things we buy most, and we buy empty wooden reels too. Send a photo of the reel, its tag if it has one, and roughly how much is left, and we'll make you an offer.

Yes. We buy new, used, obsolete and damaged electrical and industrial equipment. If it still works, it can go back into service. If it doesn't, it gets recycled. A discontinued breaker or an older motor can be exactly the part another facility needs. When in doubt, send a photo.

Text us photos. One of the nameplate or label, and one of the whole pile, plus a rough quantity and where it is. That's usually all we need to come back with a price. You can also call (561) 690-6822 if you'd rather talk it through. Either way, there's no cost to ask.

There's no set minimum. It depends on what you have. We buy everything from a few pieces of equipment to an entire facility, so send a photo and we'll tell you straight whether it makes sense for both of us. Every offer starts with a photo, a rough count and where it is.

Yes. We pick up anywhere in the United States, whatever state you're in, and we cover all the shipping, so you never arrange a truck or freight. Tell us where the material is and we'll schedule the pickup at a time that works for your site.

You'll know the price before anything leaves your site. Once the offer is accepted and the material is picked up, we pay you the same day the deal is finalized, however you prefer: cash, bank wire, cashier's check, Zelle or ACH. No surprises at the end and no waiting around for a check that never shows up.

Yes. We buy complete plant, warehouse, electrical room and manufacturing facility cleanouts, and we buy the electrical equipment coming out of data centers that are upgrading, consolidating or shutting down. Tell us what's being pulled and the timeline, and we'll plan the pickup with you around your schedule.
